Our mission is driven by the love of our son Veran. Veran was born with a rare disorder known as KIF1A. This disorder is extremely hard to diagnose and has life threatening consequences. Veran is a strong boy with unparalleled courage and vibrance. Everything we do at Castello Pizza is not only for the love of our children, but also for the support of the other sufferers of this terrible disorder.
Raising awareness and funds to find a cure for KIF1A-related disorders is a critical endeavor that holds immense significance for affected individuals and their families. KIF1A is a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the KIF1A gene, affecting the nervous system and leading to a range of neurological impairments.
These can include developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, and mobility challenges. Given its rarity, KIF1A-related disorders often face a lack of visibility, which can hinder research efforts and the development of targeted therapies. By raising awareness, the broader community becomes informed about the impact of these disorders, fostering empathy and understanding.
Increased awareness can also lead to earlier diagnoses, improved patient care, and a supportive network for affected families.
In tandem with awareness, fundraising plays a crucial role in advancing research initiatives aimed at finding a cure for KIF1A-related disorders.
The funds raised contribute to scientific studies, clinical trials, and collaborative efforts among researchers, ultimately accelerating the development of potential treatments and therapies. Families grappling with the challenges of KIF1A disorders can benefit from the hope that arises with each dollar raised, knowing that their contributions are propelling the scientific community toward breakthroughs that may one day lead to a cure.
The importance of collective efforts in raising both awareness and funds cannot be overstated, as they represent the key pillars in the ongoing battle against rare genetic disorders like KIF1A. Castello Pizza and Gelato will continue to offer special fundraising events and promotions in support of this disorder and we trust in the kindness and support of the local community throughout this battle.
